Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support our service area by greeting patients, confirming identities, and handling check-in/check-out processes. The role involves updating demographic/insurance data, registering patients when needed, and collecting co-payments and other payments.

Additionally, you will post payments, run end-of-day cash register close, and maintain a welcoming waiting area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years of experience in a customer service role.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets and checks in/out patients and guests.
• Confirms identity and provides visit-related information.
• Updates patient identification and demographic/insurance data.
• Performs patient registration as needed.
• Collects co-payments and other payments.
• Posts payments and closes end-of-day cash drawer.
• Keeps waiting area clean and comfortable.
• Notifies patients of delays or changes in appointment status.
• Schedules appointments as necessary.
• Float to other ICCs/departments when needed.
