Job summary

FedEx Freight in Effingham, IL is seeking a detail-oriented Customer Service/Administrative professional to support daily service-center operations, handling documentation, data entry, and customer inquiries.

Responsibilities include processing freight paperwork, scheduling pickups, answering phones, assisting drivers, and reconciling cash deposits, while ensuring accuracy and compliance. The role emphasizes teamwork, fast pace, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Two years general office experience preferred
• One year customer service experience, preferred
• Previous transportation experience preferred
• Strong phone and interpersonal skills
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to comprehend the various FedEx service products to assist in determining customers’ needs
• Typing/data entry skills
• Ten-key skills preferred
• PC experience with the ability to learn required computer systems/programs
• Demonstrated time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment

Responsibilities

• Handle administrative/clerical tasks, including filing, data entry, phones
• Verify documentation and reports
• Assist customers via phone, email and/or fax
• Enter shipment information into computer systems
• Make freight delivery appointments
• Review Hours-of-Service logs and report discrepancies
• Coordinate city operations and driver check-ins
• Communicate with sales, operations and others to resolve issues
• Reconcile cash and deposits; prepare COD remittance
• Comply with laws and company policies
