Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Manager I, Freight Audit and Pay, to oversee freight payable workflows across Cass, Int-Ded, CBM, and Rail. You will manage invoice exceptions and accrual support while partnering with internal teams, carriers, and offshore resources.

The role emphasizes process improvement, SOX compliance, and opportunities to automate and standardize freight payment practices with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, management, logistics, or finance preferred.
• Five+ years in a freight payables or logistics management role.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong problem-solving, leadership of a team of ten or more (onshore and offshore).
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Cass, Int-Ded, CBM, and Rail freight payable workflows for accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage freight payment exceptions and discrepancies.
• Review provider exception reports and drive timely resolution with sites, carriers, and teams.
• Monitor freight payment emails and queues, ensuring timely research and closure.
• Support month-end accruals, payment reviews, GL coding, and deduction activity.
