Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc is seeking a Manager I, Freight Audit and Pay, to oversee freight payable workflows across Cass, Int-Ded, CBM and Rail. You will manage invoice exceptions, accrual support, payment file reviews, controls and issue resolution while partnering with internal teams, carriers, sites, third-party providers, and offshore resources.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on improvement and leadership of a large team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Cass, Int-Ded, CBM, and Rail freight payable workflows for accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage freight payment exceptions and discrepancies, including rate issues and missing docs.
• Review provider exception reports and drive timely resolutions with sites, carriers, and procurement.
• Monitor freight payment emails and queues; ensure timely research and closure.
• Support month-end accruals, GL coding, deduction activity, and controls documentation.
• Partner with offshore resources and internal teams to manage workload and SLAs.
• Identify recurring issues and drive corrective actions and process improvements.
• Support SOX compliance and audit activities with proper documentation.
• Collaborate with Freight Accounting, Logistics IT, and automation teams to improve processes.
• Create standardized training and onboard new Freight Payment team members.

Education

Bachelor's degree in accounting, management, logistics, or finance

Equivalent experience with five+ years in freight payables or logistics management
