Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading. The role involves operating forklift and pallet jack, verifying freight documentation, and securing loads for safe transport.

The position requires basic math and communication skills, with a preference for previous warehousing or hostler experience. Hours vary by operational needs; safety and regulatory compliance are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Freight handling using motorized and manual equipment.
• Verify documentation matches freight details (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
