Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area and load trailers. You will operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move freight, verify shipping documents, and secure loads for transport.

The role requires basic math, reliability, and the ability to lift substantial weights. Work shifts may vary; starting rate shown, with potential for additional duties documented by supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and dock plates and open trailer doors as required.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation.
