Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers, supporting loading, securing, and documentation. This role requires operating fork lifts and pallet jacks, with duties including hostling and assisting customers as needed.

The position involves lifting heavy loads, working in a dock environment, and adhering to safety regulations. Hours and shift timing are specified, and prior warehousing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and heavy dock plates repeatedly.
• Ability to bend, twist, and push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify documentation matches freight description.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
