Job summary

NFI is seeking a Freight Bill Clerk to support a Transportation Management client by accurately processing freight invoices and shipping documentation. The role ensures billing accuracy, cost control, and healthy carrier and client relationships.

Responsibilities include auditing freight bills, verifying charges against contracts, and maintaining billing records. Strong MS Excel skills and 4+ years in billing are essential.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required.
• 4+ years in billing/accounting environment.
• 1–2 years in transportation/clerical experience—LTL bills and freight invoices.

Responsibilities

• Audit, process, and reconcile freight bills and related documents.
• Verify carrier charges against contracts and shipping docs.
• Resolve discrepancies with carriers, clients or internal teams.
• Maintain accurate billing records and data entry.
• Communicate with high-volume carriers regarding payment statuses.
• Assist with month-end reporting and carrier aging updates.
• Collaborate with account management to ensure timely carrier payments.
