Job summary

Collectors Universe, Inc. seeks a strategic Head of Fraud Operations to lead real‑time and manual review decisioning across Marketplace, Power Packs, and Lending services. You will own investigations, AML/KYC processes, and cross‑team coordination to minimize losses while reducing customer friction.

You will tune rules with Data Science, manage SLAs and analytics, and scale the fraud‑operations team to meet volume growth. A data‑driven leader with AML/KYC expertise is essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in fraud operations or investigations, including leadership of analysts or teams.
• Hands‑on experience with fraud‑detection systems (rules engines, ML‑based decisioning), case management, and manual review at scale.
• Strong command of fraud typologies in payments and marketplace settings — account takeover, payment fraud, and seller fraud.
• Working knowledge of AML / KYC operations and the SAR process.
• Data fluency: able to analyze fraud trends and translate them into rule and threshold changes; comfortable with SQL and dashboards.
• Preferred: High‑volume, high‑AOV consumer marketplace or fintech/lending fraud experience.
• Preferred: Certifications such as CFE (fraud) or CAMS (AML).
• Preferred: Experience standing up or scaling a fraud‑operations function.
• Preferred: Familiarity with collectibles/authenticity fraud or abuse of chance‑based products.

Responsibilities

• Rules & model performance: monitor rules and ML‑model performance, tune thresholds with Data Science on retraining.
• Queue & SLA health: manage review queues, SLAs, and analyst productivity/quality.
• Investigations & Response: lead multi‑typology investigations into fraud types described.
• Account‑takeover response: own ATO and account security operations.
• Cross‑team handoffs: partner with Disputes Operations on chargebacks and with Trust & Safety.
• AML/KYC Operations: run CIP reviews, transaction‑monitoring dispositions, sanctions screening.
• SAR support: prepare and support SARs and maintain investigation documentation.
• Tools, Vendors & Reporting: manage tooling and vendors; onboard new signals.
• Metrics & continuous improvement: define fraud loss rate, false positives, detection rate; drive improvements.
• Team building: build and develop the fraud‑operations team; scale headcount.
