Job summary

Veit & Company, Inc. offers a Civil Construction Internship in New Berlin, WI. The program trains students toward a Project Manager/Estimator path with potential full-time consideration after the internship based on performance, interest, and business need.

The role covers earthwork, utilities, demolition, and foundations, with hands-on takeoffs, bid preparation, and project meetings in a real-work setting.

Qualifications

• Working toward a bachelor's degree in construction-related field.
• At least one summer construction experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisor.
• Ability to read and act on simple instructions.
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and specs to determine project scope.
• Inspect jobsites before bidding to support estimates.
• Perform takeoffs using software and manual quantities.
• Calculate quantities for materials and movements.
• Solicit subcontractor quotes with bid integrity in mind.
• Build bids by adding activities, crews, and equipment.
• Print and review bid proposals with estimator/PM.
• Observe change orders and attend project meetings.
