Veit & Company, Inc. in Rogers, MN offers a Civil Construction Internship designed for students pursuing a Project Manager/Estimator path. The program provides mentorship and a path to full-time employment contingent on performance and business need.

Interns gain hands-on experience in earthwork, utilities, demolition, and foundations while developing skills in takeoffs, bid preparation, and project meetings under a project manager/estimator.

Qualifications

• 1-year education toward a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar.
• At least 1 summer of construction work experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisor.
• Ability to read, comprehend and act on simple instructions.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans and specifications to determine project scope.
• Reviews jobsites before bidding to make estimates.
• Completes accurate takeoffs using software and performs hand takeoffs.
• Calculates quantities for materials and movements.
• Solicits quotes from subcontractors for bid preparation and final numbers.
• Constructs bids by adding activities, crews, equipment and adjusting production rates.
• Prints bid proposals and reviews with estimator or project manager.
• Attends project meetings.
