Job summary

Veit is seeking a Civil Construction Intern to help with planning, takeoffs, and bid preparation across Earthwork, Utilities, Demolition, and Foundations. You’ll be mentored by a Project Manager/Estimator and gain exposure to project meetings and the change order process.

Qualifications include pursuing a bachelor’s degree in CM/Engineering or related field, and strong communication and reading-plan skills. 8–10 hour days, with potential for full-time employment based on performance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in CM/Engineering or related field.
• At least 1 summer construction work experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisor.
• Ability to read, comprehend and act on simple instructions.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans and specifications to determine the scope of work for the project.
• Performs takeoffs using software and hand takeoffs for quantities.
• Solicits quotes from subcontractors and prepares bid numbers.
• Reviews bids with estimator or project manager; attends project meetings.
• Supports bid proposals and participates in change order process.
