Job summary

State of South Carolina’s Department of Social Services seeks a dedicated CWS Case Manager in Hampton County to support families and safeguard children. You will perform case management, develop permanency plans with the family team, and ensure timely documentation and cooperation with legal processes.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, interagency collaboration, and ongoing training to maintain certification. A valid driver's license and field-work willingness are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in any other field with one year related experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a motor vehicle.
• Willingness to comply with field work assignments.

Responsibilities

• Performs case management and concurrent planning in the Child Welfare Foster Care area.
• Collaborates with Child and Family Teams to develop strength-based family permanency plans.
• Monitors safety, permanency, and well-being using DSS Policy and GPS Practice Model.
• Engages families and professionals with empathy; responds to calls, emails, and texts.
• Maintains case records per DSS policy; documents in CAPSS within required time frames.
• Collaborates with legal when safety concerns exist or legal action is needed; participates in court proceedings.
• Maintains child welfare certification and completes 20 hours of annual training.
• Performs shelter or emergency shelter duties as directed.
• Performs other duties as required.
