Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an embedded technical advisor to lead compliant AI initiatives within Compliance. You will prototype, deploy, and scale LLM-based workflows, translating complex regulatory needs into practical engineering specs while collaborating closely with Compliance leaders.

The role emphasizes responsible AI use with human oversight, auditability, and measurable gains in workflow efficiency. Remote-first with periodic in-person sessions in the US.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in production systems.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications.
• Ability to embed with non-technical domain experts and translate workflows into engineering requirements.
• Familiarity with transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory workflows and audit-ready data handling.
• Knowledge of multi-agent orchestration concepts and agent handoffs.

Responsibilities

• Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface high-leverage automation opportunities.
• Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform as the foundation for solutions.
• Own the Compliance automation roadmap with leadership, turning regulatory workflows into engineering requirements.
• Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling, guiding what to build, buy, or retire.
• Ensure automated outputs are traceable, auditable, and defensible to regulators with proper controls.
• Drive adoption through brown-bag sessions, prototype walkthroughs, and feedback loops.
