Job summary

Chicago Improv in Schaumburg, IL seeks a Food & Drink Runner to join our hospitality team. You’ll support bartenders and servers, assist guests, and help maintain service areas while ensuring safe and friendly experiences in a lively club setting.

The role is fast-paced, requires Thursday–Sunday availability, and involves standing for long shifts. Prior restaurant or club experience and valid ServSafe/TIPS certificates are a plus; this is a tipped position.

Qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced hospitality environments is preferred.
• Must be able to work Thursday–Sunday and longer shifts.
• Certification in ServSafe or similar is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist guests and maintain a pleasant experience.
• Support bartenders and servers with service stations.
• Ensure guests are of legal age for alcohol service.
• Expo food and beverages per tickets and timing needs.
• Keep showrooms clean and service areas organized.
• Communicate guest needs to management promptly.
• Follow safety and alcohol service procedures.

The Chicago Improv is currently seeking Food & Drink Runners to join the team. But first, let's make sure you can perform the duties below:

Job Duties:

• Have a passion for true hospitality!
• Must love taking care of all guests! We strive to create a memorable experience for all patrons, so top-notch customer service is a must.
• Say yes, thank you, my pleasure, or allow me 1000 times per shift!
• Partner with bartenders, servers, and anyone else to ensure service stations are set-up, maintained, and broken down correctly.
• Make sure anyone who is ordering alcohol is old enough to legally partake.
• Expo food, drinks, and other items as indicated by the ticket (usually all at the same time)!
• Listen to guest needs and quickly obtain what is needed.
• Be attentive to whether a guest needs to find transportation home due to alcohol intake and inform appropriate members of management.
• Maintain the showroom and clear as needed.
• Give us suggestions on how to enhance service whenever a breakdown is identified, we want to hear from you frequently!

Minimum Qualifications:

• Thrive in a fast-paced environment with a focus on teamwork!
• Friendly, outgoing, and excellent communication skills!
• Ability to work flexible hours, especially nights, weekends, and holidays.
• High school diploma, or equivalent work experience.
• 1 or more years of experience in restaurants or clubs.
• ServSafe Food Handler and TIPS or LEAD Certificate ensuring compliance with any county or state requirements.
• Consistently demonstrate a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Can stand and or walk for an 8-10-hour shift.
• Must have Thursday- Sunday availability

This is a tipped position.
