The RN will float to two or more units, delivering direct patient care and guiding patient/family teaching while maintaining professional standards. Responsibilities include nursing process execution, timely communication with physicians about condition changes, and ensuring patient privacy.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS (ARC/AHA) certification current on hire.
• ACLS (ARC/AHA) certification current within 30 days.
• PALS (ARC/AHA) certification current within 30 days (ER/OR/PACU).
• NRP and Basic Fetal Monitoring or AWHONN within 90 days for Women’s Services.
• TNCC within 12 months for Emergency Department floats.
• BSN preferred.
• Able to float to two or more units and maintain competency.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Float RN may be assigned to two or more units and must maintain competency.
• Provide direct patient care within scope of practice and teach patients/families.
• Direct and guide nursing staff; maintain standards of professional care.
• Communicate with physician about changes in patient condition and test results.
• Protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
