Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer II to join our software development team for Military Flight Management. This onsite role focuses on avionics software for the E-2D platform and other fixed-wing platforms, with responsibilities spanning requirements, verification, and integration on a global team.

You will develop, test, and validate FMS software, collaborate with agile teams, and support cross-functional stakeholders. Some travel (<10%) is expected as part of program needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science/Engineering/Math with 2+ years experience, or an advanced degree.
• Experience with Python scripting.
• Experience in a systems/software engineering role.
• Experience developing, decomposing, and deriving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, analyze, decompose, and trace system requirements for new functionality on fixed-wing platforms.
• Create test cases and procedures to verify software implementation.
• Design requirements, software, and test verification per program needs.
• Collaborate with agile team on overall design process.
• Support teams to develop, integrate and release FMS software products.
• Communicate plans and status to the agile team.
• Coordinate with platform engineering and other software teams on dependencies.
• Interact with cross-functional teams including Engineers, PMs, QA, and Production.
• Mentor and share knowledge within the department.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally <10%.
