Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join our software development team for Military Flight Management in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The role focuses on avionics software for E-2D and other fixed-wing platforms, with an onsite requirement in Cedar Rapids.

You will develop system requirements, create test procedures, and collaborate with agile teams to deliver high‑quality FMS software that meets safety and airworthiness standards.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
• Experience with Python scripting.
• Experience in a systems/software engineering role.
• Experience developing, decomposing, and deriving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, capture, analyze, decompose, and trace System requirements for new/altered functionality for fixed wing platforms.
• Create test cases and procedures to verify software implementation.
• Design requirements, software, and test verification as needed.
• Develop innovative design approaches meeting customer requirements, cost targets, and product line objectives.
• Collaborate with agile team members on design processes and timing.
