RTX in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer II to join our Military Flight Management software team. The engineer will work on avionics software for the E-2D platform and other fixed-wing platforms, onsite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

You will develop, analyze, and trace system requirements, create test cases, and collaborate with agile teams to deliver high-quality FMS software that meets safety and airworthiness standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in systems engineering for avionics or defense programs.
  • Ability to analyze, decompose and trace system requirements.
  • Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle in avionics domain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, capture, analyze, decompose, and trace system requirements for new/altered functionality.
  • Create test cases and procedures to verify software implementations.
  • Design requirements, software, and test verification as needed.
  • Develop innovative design approaches meeting customer requirements and cost targets.
  • Collaborate with agile team members on overall design processes.
  • Support teams to develop, integrate and release FMS software products.
  • Communicate plans and status to the agile team and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with platform engineering and other software domains to track dependencies.
  • Interact with cross-functional teams including engineers, program managers, finance, quality and production.
  • Champion knowledge sharing and mentoring within the department.

We are seeking qualified candidates for an experienced systems engineer II to join our software development team for Military Flight Management. The engineer that fills this role will work primarily on the avionics software for the E-2D platform and other fixed wing platforms. This is an onsite role in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

What You Will Do:
  • You will develop, capture, analyze, decompose, and trace System requirements for the addition of new and altered functionality for our fixed winged platforms.
  • You will create test cases and procedures to verify software implantation.
  • You will design requirements, software, and test verification, depending on program need.
  • You will develop innovative design approaches that meet customer requirements, cost targets, and product line objectives.
  • You will collaborate with your agile team members on the overall design process for your projects.
  • You will support teams of software and systems engineers to develop, integrate and release FMS software products.
  • You will communicate plans and status on your assigned stories to your agile team members
  • You will coordinate with the platform engineering team and other software domain teams to identify and track dependencies for shared features.
  • You will interact with a cross-functional team of (including, but not limited to) Engineers, Engineering leaders, Program Managers, Finance, Quality, and Production.
