Job summary

RTX seeks a Systems Engineer II to join the software team for Military Flight Management in Cedar Rapids. You will work on avionics software for E-2D and other fixed-wing platforms, developing and verifying FMS requirements, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams onsite.

You will gain exposure to DO‑178 style processes, agile collaboration, and a broad avionics product line, contributing to high‑quality, safety-critical software used in military aircraft.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in STEM and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree.
• Experience with Python scripting.
• Experience in a systems/software engineering role.
• Experience developing, decomposing, and deriving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, capture, analyze, decompose, and trace system requirements for new/altered functionality for fixed-wing platforms.
• Create test cases and procedures to verify software implementation.
• Design requirements, software, and test verification as needed.
• Collaborate with agile team members on design processes.
• Support teams of software and systems engineers to develop, integrate and release FMS software products.
• Communicate plans and status on assigned stories to agile team members.
• Coordinate with platform engineering and other software teams to track dependencies for shared features.
