Job summary

RTI International is seeking Part-Time Field Interviewers for the National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG). You will travel to selected locations, screen households, and conduct in-person interviews using a company tablet.

The role offers flexible hours to fit a varied schedule and requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, strong English communication skills, and the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
• Effective communication skills through speech and listening
• Fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking
• Available for entire training and data collection period
• Able to successfully complete training
• Must have a valid US driver's license and reliable personal automobile
• Comfortable using RTI issued tablet, laptop and other associated equipment
• Access to password-protected Wi-Fi connection for data transmissions and administrative responsibilities
• Able to keep project information confidential
• Willingness to work in various types of weather conditions and after dark
• Must be comfortable asking survey questions on personally sensitive subject matters
• Must be willing to work approximately 20 hours a week, including weekends and weekday evenings, on a regular basis with occasional weekday daytime hours
• Must be comfortable working in unfamiliar areas

Responsibilities

• Travel frequently to selected locations to recruit study participants
• Locating dwelling units, identifying eligible adults, administering screening interview
• Interacting with others and approaching households without a prior appointment
• Make in-person contact to discuss the study and obtain participation
• Collect confidential information and administer standardized questionnaires
• Independently manage administrative duties, including conference calls and online trainings
• Transmit data as scheduled
• Safeguard project-issued equipment and materials
• Submit timely Time & Expense reports
• Virtually attend scheduled meetings with the project team
• Maintain reliable home internet access for project work
• Meet weekly with supervisor via Zoom
• Stand/walk/climb stairs and carry equipment up to 15 pounds
