Job summary

Magical Beginnings on River Street in Middleton is hiring a Floating Teacher to support our classrooms throughout the school. This role provides substitute coverage and assists teachers, helping the program run smoothly while delivering high-quality child care.

The ideal candidate holds an EEC certification or equivalent, enjoys working with young children, and can work 32–40 hours per week, including afternoons.

Qualifications

• EEC Teacher Certification or equivalent required.
• Daycare experience in center-based or private school setting.
• Engaging, energetic demeanor and a love for helping children develop.
• Availability to work 32-40 hours per week until 5:30 pm.
• Ability to spend extended periods of time on the floor with children.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand up to 90% of the workday.
• Attentiveness, strong time management and a team-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide substitute coverage when teachers are out, complete planning time, needing a bathroom break, lunch break, or other coverage throughout the day.
• Assist classroom teachers with opening/closing of the classroom, including wiping down toys, cleaning tables, vacuuming, sanitizing the room after all children have left, and preparation for the next morning.
• Provide classroom assistance to support teachers, including preparing materials for lesson plans, engaging with students in free play, assisting with daily projects, supervising outdoor time, helping with bathroom needs and diapering, snack and lunch assistance, naptime, etc.
• Adhere to the daily classroom schedule while assisting teachers.
• Maintain cleanliness of the school throughout the day, including cleaning kitchens, lobbies, bathrooms, disposing trash, assisting with laundry and nap mats.
• Encourage children's participation with age-appropriate interactive activities.
• Maintain EEC professional development hours and PQ registry.
• Attend monthly staff meetings.
• Create a fun and safe learning environment.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents.
