Job summary

Rumpke of Ohio, Inc. is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance staff and oversee the fleet maintenance program at our Carrollton facility.

You will hire, train, and coach team members, manage overtime, and ensure safety, productivity, and cost control across the maintenance operation. You will collaborate with operations to track fleet status, manage parts inventory, and enforce quality standards while maintaining compliance with OSHA/DOT guidelines.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of previous management experience.
• 3–5 years performing repairs and maintenance on diesel-powered heavy vehicles and related components.
• Experience with maintaining parts inventory.
• Familiarity with repair manuals, electrical wiring and schematics for troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Manages the maintenance staff, including hiring, training, scheduling work assignments, performance management, discipline, and overtime approvals.
• Regularly communicates with operations regarding the status of fleet vehicles, containers, and other equipment.
• Controls maintenance costs related to personnel, purchasing, inventory, and outsourcing of repairs; collaborates on the budget.
• Identifies trends in road calls, breakdowns, and shop hours and responds appropriately.
• Maintains an ongoing preventive maintenance program to ensure vehicle safety and operating efficiency.
• Trains and directs employees to improve their overall performance.
• Monitors and enforces safety standards and ensures compliance goals are met or exceeded.
• Ensures completion of daily duties and achievement of productivity goals.
• Presents and documents accurate reports; conducts disciplinary actions as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
