Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling invites applications for a Vehicle Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance team at a facility, ensuring a safe, reliable, and cost-efficient fleet. You’ll hire, train and coach staff, oversee budgets, and drive preventive maintenance programs while enforcing safety standards and productivity targets.

The role requires 3–5 years of management experience and technical know-how in diesel-powered heavy vehicles, with travel between sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of OSHA and DOT compliance is preferred.
• Experience supervising maintenance staff and managing teams.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to manage budgets and control maintenance costs.

Responsibilities

• Manages maintenance staff including hiring, training and scheduling.
• Communicates status of fleet vehicles and equipment to operations.
• Controls maintenance costs related to personnel, purchasing, inventory, and outsourcing.
• Maintains an ongoing preventive maintenance program for safety and efficiency.
• Trains staff and conducts performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
