Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling seeks a Vehicle Maintenance Manager in Columbus, OH to lead the maintenance staff and oversee the safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet operations. You will hire, train, and manage performance while coordinating with operations to ensure smooth daily functions.

The role requires 3-5 years of management experience in diesel/heavy vehicle maintenance, strong leadership, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Computer skills and proficiency with Windows applications.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions, prioritize work, and resolve problems.
• Ability to understand and use repair manuals, electrical wiring, and schematics for troubleshooting.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire teams.

Responsibilities

• Manages the maintenance staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and safety compliance.
• Communicates status of fleet vehicles, containers, and equipment with operations.
• Monitors maintenance costs and participates in budgeting processes.
• Analyzes trends in repairs and shop hours to implement preventative procedures.
• Maintains an ongoing preventive maintenance program for vehicle safety and efficiency.
• Trains staff to improve shop productivity and ensures quality standards.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and accurate maintenance records.
