Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance personnel and equipment readiness at a large shop location in Bessemer, Alabama. You will lead a team, ensure high-quality repairs, plan staffing, and support Operations with equipment-related issues.

Responsibilities include safety, cost control, data/documentation, and collaboration with Safety and other departments to address incidents. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
• Three years of vehicle maintenance experience with supervisory experience in transportation, operations, parts or vehicle maintenance.
• Must be able to operate a manual transmission truck to determine if operating properly.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and DOT rules and regulations.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, educate and develop employees.
• Ensure equipment repairs are completed to high quality and on time.
• Monitor performance and provide corrective action.
• Plan daily staffing to meet workload.
• Support Operations on equipment-related issues.
• Analyze cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiencies.
• Maintain payroll approvals and compliance documentation.
• Ensure clean, safe working conditions.
• Communicate with Fleet Maintenance leadership to align with operations.
• Identify equipment sent to outside vendors for repairs.
