Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. in Woodward, AL is seeking a Maintenance Shop Technician Helper to support timely, quality fleet maintenance for tractors, trailers and equipment.

Under supervision you will assist with inspections, repairs, and documentation to keep a safe, efficient fleet. Key duties include assisting technicians with preventative maintenance, preparing records, moving parts, and maintaining a clean work area.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Basic computer skills.
• Willing to be educated on proper use of lifting devices (jacks, cranes, etc.).
• Able to frequently lift components weighing ~110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to safely operate vehicles as directed.
• Able to enter/exit driver's compartment with standard footing/handholds.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with shop duties and vehicle maintenance.
• Move parts to/from the job site and install/remove parts as directed.
• Prepare electronic and manual records and reports.
• Assist with safety inspections of equipment and document the work.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Utilize power and hand tools as directed by leadership.
