Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Leader at our large shop in Northborough, MA to manage maintenance personnel and ensure equipment readiness. You will lead teams, plan staffing, and coordinate with Operations to resolve equipment issues.

The role emphasizes delivering high-quality repairs, safety, and cost-conscious improvements while maintaining compliance and effective communication with leadership. This is a full-time on-site position.

Qualifications

• Two years of vehicle maintenance experience with at least six months in a supervision/lead role.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission truck to determine operation.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations preferred.
• Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Must be multi-tasked and organized; proficient with Microsoft Office and Internet.

Responsibilities

• Lead, educate and develop employees.
• Ensure equipment repairs are completed in a high-quality and timely manner.
• Monitor employee performance and provide corrective action.
• Plan daily staffing to meet workload.
• Provide support to Operations regarding equipment issues.
• Monitor costs and improve efficiencies.
• Perform payroll approval, repair order maintenance and compliance documentation.
• Ensure clean, safe working conditions of the facility and equipment.
• Communicate with Fleet Maintenance leadership to meet Operations needs.
• Identify and monitor equipment sent to outside vendors for repairs.
• Order parts to maintain shop needs.
• Conduct pre-shift and weekly meetings; collaborate with Safety.
