Job summary

Republic Services in Baltimore is seeking a Maintenance Technician B to repair and maintain diesel and non-diesel equipment, including chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic/electrical systems, brakes and HVAC. The role involves on-site and road service to keep fleet operations running, with training in new technologies and opportunities for career growth.

You will diagnose multi-system issues, perform preventive maintenance, and support drivers on routes with state-of-the-art equipment.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose complex multi-system issues with technical proficiency.
• Basic understanding of work order labor time standards and documentation.
• Experience with maintenance on Class 1–5 and heavy‑duty Class 7–8 equipment, or technical school graduate.
• ASE certifications (T1–T8) are a plus but not required.
• CDL is a plus but not required.
• 3–5 years in a technician role or relevant automotive/technical training.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge and proficiency in vehicle components and systems for preventative and repair maintenance, on-site and on the road.
• Repair and maintain chassis components and refuse bodies including hydraulic and electrical systems and air/hydraulic brakes.
• Perform light engine repair and maintenance; service suspensions, drivetrain and steering systems.
• Work on heating and air conditioning systems and perform welding/fabrication as needed.
• Safely provides road service to bring equipment back to operation.
• Identify malfunctions using electronic tools and diagnostics.
• Complete applicable company training programs and perform other duties as assigned.
