About the Position

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Fleet Admin Support Supervisor in our Communications Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Working in conjunction with the Fleet Manager to address various administrative functions of the fleet program and supervises two (2) administrative staff employees in the Fleet Services Garage and one (1) administrative staff employee in the Installation Facility.
  • Supervising surplus and disposal of fleet vehicles.
  • Educating Troopers on the vehicle warranty, routine maintenance, and other issues that may potentially arise.
  • Ensuring the cross training of subordinate staff and/or assisting with the development of desk procedures to ensure continuity of operations.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of supervisory principles to train and evaluate the performance of subordinates.
  • Knowledge of either procurement, purchasing, or buying procedures.
Skills
  • Skill in the use of a personal computer and of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI or equivalent applications).
  • Skill to create documents and basic reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule workload of direct reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize fluctuating workload and maintain a variety of records.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research to meet the operational needs of customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work within a para-military organization and coordinate professionally with vendors, and other Commonwealth Agencies.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
  • Experience with procurement either in the state VA, Ariba or other procurement system or a similar online purchasing and buying applications required.
  • Virginia Operator’s Driver’s License is required.
  • Experience supervising, training, and evaluating employee performance required.
  • Ability to work during Agency or Governor declared emergency event required.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Additional Considerations
  • Knowledge of state inspection rules and regulations, and surplus/auction property policies are preferred.
  • Ability to utilize an asset management system to track program related assets and equipment preferred.
  • Experience with conducting data analysis preferred.
  • Experience with administrative fleet, surplus, or auction functions preferred.
