Job Duties

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Assistant Storekeeper in our Communications Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the procurement, inventory management and distribution of equipment and supplies related to the operations of the VSP Installation Program.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Experience with order picking, returns processing, inventory counting, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of records management and asset management procedures and schedules.
  • Knowledge of procurement and/or purchasing practices and procedures.

Skills:

  • Skill in the use of computers and basic software programs (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to research, gather, and analyze data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team to accomplish Division goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written form and verbally in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Demonstrated ability to use logic and reasoning to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, paying close attention to detail, and communicating effectively in English with Department personnel.
  • Ability to use a forklift, pallet jack or other material handling equipment required.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of office/business practices and procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
  • Extensive experience in general storeroom, warehouse or inventory functions required.
  • Receiving experience required (includes delivery discrepancy identification - overage/shortage).
  • Motor vehicle operator’s license required.
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
