Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Firmware Engineer to develop software for millions of devices, partnering with hardware engineers to select SoCs, flash, RAM and sensors, and to bring prototypes to customers in months.

You will code in C for MCU platforms with RTOS, develop drivers, bootloaders, and device management, and collaborate across hardware, software, cloud and quality teams to ensure reliable data delivery to dispatchers and fleet managers.

Qualifications

• 2+ years building firmware for resource-constrained systems.
• Fluency in C.
• Solid bare-metal and RTOS experience.
• Experience bringing up new boards.
• Fluency in low-level interfaces SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, ADC.
• Real bench instincts with test equipment.
• Cross-team scope across hardware, firmware, cloud and quality.
• Cross-layer judgment from driver to customer experience.
• You write design docs, reviews and post-mortems for others to act on.
• You ship fast with automated testing and maintainable code.
• You use AI smartly in daily workflow.
