Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Firmware Engineer to develop firmware for millions of devices across our cloud-connected platform. You will help bring up new hardware, select components, and build core layers like drivers and bootloaders to enable reliable, energy-efficient operation in enterprise deployments.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in firmware for constrained systems, strong C fluency, and hands-on experience with RTOS and hardware bring-up, plus practical know-how on SPI/I2C/UART/CAN/ADC

Qualifications

• 2+ years building firmware for resource-constrained systems.
• Fluency in C.
• Solid bare-metal and RTOS experience - Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or equivalent.
• Fluency in the low-level interfaces - SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, ADC.

Responsibilities

• Shape the hardware, not just the code that runs on it.
• Be the first person to make a new board do anything at all.
• Build the layers everything else depends on (drivers, bootloaders, updates).
• Chase every microamp in battery-powered sensors.
• Work with product, full-stack, mobile, and quality engineers to ensure data arrives intact.
• Raise the bar for the engineers around you and ship iteratively with urgency.
