Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Firmware Engineer to develop and bring up firmware on millions of devices across industrial and enterprise customers. You will influence hardware choices, bring up new boards, and build the layers that enable reliable data and device management at scale.

You’ll work with C, RTOS, and low-level interfaces (SPI/I2C/UART/CAN) while collaborating with product, firmware, cloud, mobile and QA teams to ship robust solutions and deliver value to dispatchers and technicians in

Qualifications

• 2+ years building firmware for resource-constrained systems.
• Fluency in C and ability to read linker maps, stack traces, and diagnose memory issues.
• Solid bare-metal/RTOS experience (Zephyr, FreeRTOS or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Shape hardware decisions and participate in reviews to select SoC, flash/RAM, sensors.
• Bring up new boards and prototypes from virgin silicon and validate designs.
• Develop peripheral drivers, secure bootloaders, and firmware update mechanisms.
• Design power-management protocols for battery-powered devices.
• Collaborate with product, full-stack, mobile and QA teams to ensure useful data is produced.
• Set high engineering standards and iterate rapidly as Samsara scales.
