Job summary

Accura Engineering seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to support federal construction projects at Fort Hood, TX. The role focuses on fire and life safety systems, reviews, QA, and coordination with project teams throughout all phases of construction.

The candidate will ensure compliance with UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards, serving as a subject matter expert and consultant to project managers and government personnel. PE licensure and 5+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum of five years of Fire Protection Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and fire/life safety requirements.
• USACE or federal project experience preferred.
• Experience with QA, commissioning, and acceptance testing of fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with federal construction management practices and coordinating with government personnel.

Responsibilities

• Establish understanding of UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards related to fire protection.
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with stakeholders for fire protection features.
• Perform reviews and acceptances, and coordinate with teams through all project phases.
• Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with project documents and contracts.
• Provide technical guidance on facility design and fire protection systems.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and field changes; support testing and QA oversight.
• Support government personnel and project managers as a fire-safety consultant.
