Job summary

Accura Engineering in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support federal construction projects at Fort Hood, TX. You will serve as the SME for fire and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and applicable codes, performing design reviews, submittals, acceptance testing, and coordination with project teams.

This role requires a PE license, US citizenship, and at least five years of experience; you will lead inspections, QA oversight,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of Fire Protection Engineering experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and fire/life safety requirements.
• US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) or other federal project experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish understanding of UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA fire protection requirements.
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with stakeholders on fire protection features.
• Perform reviews and QA for pre-construction to post-construction activities.
• Conduct inspections in compliance with project documents and contract requirements.
• Prepare detailed technical reports with deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Provide guidance on facility design and fire protection systems.
• Serve as fire-safety consultant to project managers and government personnel.
• Review contractor submittals and provide technical comments.
