Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support federal construction projects in Fort Hood, TX, focusing on fire and life safety systems and compliance with UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards.

You will perform design reviews, inspections, QA, submittal reviews, acceptance testing, and coordinate with project teams through all construction phases to ensure technical accuracy and timely issue resolution for government facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum five (5) years of fire protection engineering experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and fire/life safety requirements.
• US Army Corps of Engineers or other federal project experience preferred.
• Experience with QA, commissioning, and acceptance testing of fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with RMS/QCS and federal construction management practices.
• Ability to work with government personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Establish understanding of fire protection requirements related to UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards.
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with stakeholders for fire protection features of work.
• Perform BCOES and plan-in-hand reviews, applying lessons from pre-construction to post-construction.
• Conduct inspections in compliance with project documentation and contract requirements.
• Review submittals and provide technical comments and recommendations.
• Schedule and conduct final acceptance testing of fire suppression, detection, alarm, and related systems.
• Provide technical guidance on facility design, construction features, and fire protection systems.
• Serve as fire-safety consultant to project managers and government personnel.
