Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking a Fire Protection Designer to join our North America Fire Protection Engineering Group. You will work on design, analysis, and documentation for fire protection systems in buildings, using CAD/BIM tools and collaborating with architects and engineers.

We value strong technical writing, coordination with project teams, and a proactive approach to safety and code compliance. This is a full-time, on-site role in Richmond, VA with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or closely related field with emphasis in Fire Protection.
• 0-3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination.
• Engineer in Training (EIT)/EI preferred, aiming for Fire Protection P.E. licensure.

Responsibilities

• Apply fire protection concepts to support design of sprinkler, standpipe, detection and smoke control systems.
• Perform basic engineering calculations using standard software.
• Gather information to inform design decisions and prepare drawings.
• Assist in engineering designs, drawings, specs, and reports.
• Verify code compliance and coordinate with other design professionals.
• Support construction activities, submittals, RFI responses, and inspections.
• Perform other duties assigned by senior staff.
