Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Fire Protection Designer to join our Buildings Engineering team in Houston. You will design fire alarm, fire suppression, and special hazard systems and coordinate with engineers and architects on a multidisciplinary project.

This role offers growth in technical design, code coordination, and project delivery skills. Ideal candidates have experience with fire protection design, Revit/AutoCAD, and NFPA/ICC standards, with CFPS/EIT/NICET preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in fire suppression, fire alarm, and special hazard system design.
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD and related computational tools.
• Knowledge of ICC and NFPA codes and standards.
• CFPS, EIT, and/or NICET certification preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm, fire suppression, and special hazard systems.
• Review and develop fire alarm and fire protection system plans.
• Support life safety and building code consulting efforts.
• Collaborate with engineering and architectural disciplines.
• Develop site fire protection features and fire department access plans.
• Communicate with clients and write technical reports.
• Coordinate and prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents under limited supervision.
• Assist in spatial coordination with architecture and other engineering systems.
• Work in a cross-disciplinary team to ensure integrated design solutions.
