Job summary

Johnson Controls is looking for a field service technician to diagnose, repair and install fire alarm and life safety systems at customer sites across the region. You will read blueprints, follow manuals and coordinate with customers to ensure efficient system operation.

Ideal candidates have 1–2+ years’ experience in fire alarm, access control or security systems, with strong communication skills. On-call rotations and occasional travel may be required, and NICET certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years’ experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound and communications systems
• Must be able to interpret blueprints, diagrams and specifications
• A good working knowledge of computers is necessary
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and overnight travel may be required
• Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements
• Retain licenses required by National, State and Local codes

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls from Service Resource Center and determine equipment/system problems
• Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on fire alarm and related building systems at customer sites
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications and manuals
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate with customers to ensure satisfaction
• On-call rotation and training of other service team members
• Provide quotes and upsell opportunities to improve facility efficiency
