Job summary

Johnson Controls, a global leader in building systems and safety, is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Service Technician to diagnose and repair fire alarm and related systems at customer sites. You will read schematics, troubleshoot panels, and provide on-site solutions while upholding safety and customer-service standards.

Responsibilities include handling service calls, on-call rotations, training teammates, and delivering quotes to support recommended improvements.

Qualifications

• Required 1-2+ years’ experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound and communications systems.
• Must be able to interpret blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
• A good working knowledge of computers is necessary.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
• Overnight travel may be required.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
• Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
• Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
• Retain any licenses that are required by National, State and Local codes.
• Preferred Technical training preferred NICET I and/or II preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive service calls from Service Resource Center, diagnose equipment/system problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and related building products at customer sites.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications software/systems, programs, schematics and manuals.
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Participate in on-call rotation and train or mentor others on the service team.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and upsell opportunities.
