Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Financial Examiner III in Austin to perform moderately complex financial examinations of cost reports for Medicaid and non-Medicaid providers. The role supports reimbursement rate methodologies and payment adequacy evaluations with adherence to GAAP and state regulations.

The position requires 3+ years of relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and effective communication with providers and internal staff.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial examinations, financial operations, financial analysis, data analysis, budgeting, accounting, auditing, Medicaid reimbursement, or cost reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs financial examinations of financial compliance and cost reports.
• Reviews Medicaid and non-Medicaid contracted providers’ reports and supporting documentation.
• Plans, schedules, coordinates, conducts, and reports examination results.
• Communicates with providers and staff to request clarifications or additional information.
• Completes special projects as assigned by management.
