Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a skilled Financial Examiner V in Austin, TX to perform highly complex financial examinations of cost and compliance reports for Medicaid and related services.

The role emphasizes peer reviews, quality assurance, and adherence to GAAP, TX Administrative Code, and state/federal regulations; expected travel up to 5% and potential telework; regular office presence in Austin as required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting, business, finance, economics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs financial examinations and peer reviews of financial compliance and cost reports, submitted by contracted providers, to include financial data, statistical data, and supporting documentation.
• Manages workload by planning and organizing to ensure that the required number of peer reviews and examinations are completed within PFD established deadlines.
• Communicates with management staff, internal agency staff, contracted providers, financial contacts, and/or cost report preparers on peer reviews and quality assurance findings.
• Assists in the evaluation of the examination processes; identifies areas of progress, improvement, or concern; makes recommendations; and assists in implementing new progresses and resolving problems.
• Completes additional or special projects as assigned by the Manager or Director.
