Job summary

The role supports rate methodologies, cost determination, and payment adequacy evaluations under GAAP and state rules.

The examiner coordinates with contracted providers and HHSC staff, manages multiple exams, and prepares timely reports.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field.
• Relevant financial examination, accounting, or audit experience may be substituted for education on a year-to-year basis.
• Understanding of GAAP and state/federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform financial examinations of compliance and cost reports for contracted providers.
• Review financial data, statistical data, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, conduct, and report examination results.
• Communicate with providers and agency staff on examination processes and needs.
• Complete special projects as assigned by management.
