Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Financial Examiner IV to perform highly complex financial examinations of Medicaid and non-Medicaid cost reports. You will verify accuracy of cost data and assist in establishing reimbursement methodologies under GAAP and state regulations.

As part of the Provider Finance Department, you will review cost reports, coordinate with contracted providers, prepare deliverables, and maintain strict adherence to deadlines.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance, economics or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial examinations, financial operations, financial analysis, data analysis, budgeting, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, Medicaid reimbursement, and/or cost reporting.
• Candidates certified as a CPA, CIA, CGAP, CIGA, CFE, and/or CISA are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex financial examinations of Medicaid and Non-Medicaid costs and compliance reports submitted by contracted providers.
• Manages workload to ensure required examinations are completed within deadlines.
• Communicates with contracted providers and cost report preparers to request clarification and supporting documentation.
• Completes additional or special projects as assigned by the Manager or Director.
