Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) is seeking a Financial Examiner III in Austin. The role performs moderately complex financial examinations of cost reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, Texas Administrative Code, and program instructions.

Telework eligibility is noted, with diverse responsibilities across planning, coordination, and reporting. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in financial examinations and a solid background in accounting, budgeting, and data analysis.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial examinations, financial operations, financial analysis, data analysis, budgeting, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, Medicaid reimbursement, or cost reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy.
• Performs financial examinations of financial compliance and cost reports submitted by contracted providers within required timeframes.
• Manages workload to meet deadlines and coordinates with providers and staff.
• Communicates with contracted providers to request clarifying information or supporting documentation; prepares and issues reports.
• Completes additional or special projects as assigned by the Manager or Director.
