Job summary

Avalara, Inc. seeks a Director of Finance & Strategy for Product & Engineering to partner with senior leaders, linking roadmaps to financial outcomes and investment decisions. You will own forecasts, headcount planning, and cost structures, translating technical priorities into credible narratives for executive decision-making.

The role demands a strategic finance leader who collaborates across technology domains, builds robust models, and improves forecast rigor in a high-visibility environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in FP&A, strategic finance, or BU finance with technical org support in SaaS/enterprise tech.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred; executive presence with SVP stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary finance partner to senior Product & Engineering leaders for budget, forecast, roadmap, and investments.
• Translate product and engineering priorities into financial implications and recommendations.
• Own the financial plan, forecast, and long-range view; reflect roadmap changes in headcount/cost expectations.
• Lead roadmap-to-P&L linkage and drive credible, driver-based narratives for performance.
