Job summary

Avalara is seeking a Director, Finance & Strategy for Product & Engineering to act as the embedded finance leader for the organization, partnering with senior product and engineering leaders to connect strategy, roadmaps, headcount, and operating spend into a clear financial view of costs and returns.

Qualifications

10+ years of FP&A, strategic finance, or business-unit finance experience.
Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, or R&D in SaaS or tech.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics; MBA/CFA/CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary finance partner to Product & Engineering leaders for budget, forecast, and investments.
Translate roadmaps into financial implications, headcount and cost plans.
Lead roadmap-to-P&L linkage and long-range financial planning.
Develop KPI frameworks connecting hiring, productivity, and spend to outcomes.
Lead monthly/quarterly business reviews with driver-based narratives.
