Job summary

Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Inc. (HIMSS) seeks an accomplished accounting leader to oversee the organization’s accounting operations and close processes. The role requires establishing policies, internal controls, and coordinating external audits and tax filings.

Responsibilities include AR/AP management, payroll, and international accounting compliance. The successful candidate will mentor staff, drive GAAP-compliant financial reporting, and lead system enhancements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; MS or MBA preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Minimum ten (10) years experience in industry or public accounting, incl. remote team management & international operations.
• Exceptional accounting & analytical skills; ability to mentor accounting professionals.
• Demonstrated use of technology to support financial close goals.
• Flexible working arrangements, hybrid work option.

Responsibilities

• Lead the organization’s accounting operations and financial close.
• Establish and enforce accounting policies, standards, and internal controls.
• Deliver reconciled financial information for internal and external statements.
• Direct relationships with external audit firms and tax filings.
• Oversee AR/AP, payroll, and related disbursements with Assistant Controller oversight.
• Manage accounting activities of international offices to GAAP compliance.
• Lead system enhancements (NetSuite, Concur, ADP) and consult with vendors.
• Plan audit work papers and reconciliations; provide QA of interim financial data.
• Provide leadership to CFO/CEO on accounting policies and GAAP.
• Improve quality and transparency of accounting records and supporting schedules.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff; support performance evaluations.
