Job summary

DRMP, Inc. is hiring Transportation Technicians and CEI Inspectors in North Carolina to support roadway and bridge construction projects. Expect assignments at project sites with field teams, conducting inspections, sampling, testing, documentation, and surveying as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 4+ years construction inspection experience (1+ year in roadway or bridge construction), OR
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field plus 2+ years construction inspection experience (1+ year in roadway construction)
• Candidates will be evaluated against qualifications applicable to the specific position and client assignment
• Knowledge of construction methods, plans, specifications, inspection procedures, and material testing appropriate to the position level
• Strong record keeping, mathematical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to use computers and electronic tablets for documentation and reporting
• Ability to work independently within assigned responsibilities and collaboratively with a project team
• Construction surveying and layout experience is preferred where applicable
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history required
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed to perform assigned tasks
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Required certifications must be obtained for applicable positions; willingness to obtain as needed
• QMS Roadway, Concrete, ABC Sampling, Borrow Pit Sampling, QMS Density, ABC Density, Conventional Density, Erosion Control Level 2, DOT Intermediate MOT

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction activities for compliance with contract documents, plans, standards, and specifications
• Perform required field tests and collect material samples for laboratory testing
• Prepare daily diaries and reports documenting contractor activities, project progress, and inspection findings
• Maintain field books, density logs, material reports, quantity records, and pay documentation
• Measure and verify construction dimensions, alignment, elevations, and quantities
• Perform construction calculations and prepare supporting documentation for progress payments and final estimates
• Enter, review, and maintain project reports and data using computers, tablets, and applicable reporting systems
• Communicate clearly with project personnel and report deficiencies or concerns to the appropriate supervisor
• Exercise initiative and independent judgment in solving work problems, appropriate to position level
• Follow DRMP and applicable client safety requirements
• Perform other duties appropriate to the position level and project assignment
